Chae Rim vs Kim So-Yeon: Life Imitates Art

In another example of real-life events resembling K-drama’s contrived coincidences, the paths of stars Chae Rim and Kim So-Yeon recently came into conjunction again.
In 2009 and 2010, Chae Rim was the model and spokesperson for cosmetic company Woongjin (熊津化妆品), visiting numerous cities in China to endorse Celllart and other Woongjin brands. During this period Chae Rim, who consistently ranks high in Chinese celebrity popularity polls, also played a cameo role in the Chinese 2010 remake of All About Eve, rekindling interest in the ten-year-old classic K-drama that carried her and fellow actress Kim So-Yeon to fame on the Hallyu wave.
At some point in 2010, Chae Rim split with Woongjin to link up with competitor Almas Dione, and Woongjin selected Kim So-Yeon for their 2011 model and spokesperson. So-Yeon was coming off a string of successful K-dramas, IRIS, Dr. Champ, and Prosecutor Princess, that had rejuvenated her media presence and popularity in China.
Whether by chance or intentional, Woongjin’s move once again brings the former dramatic rivalry between the two stars back into the spotlight. And so, once again, we are the beneficiaries...
