At the beginning of Episode 16, Sun-Mi takes a major step away from Hyung-Chul while she devotes herself to mending Kim Woo-Jin’s broken heart. The subsequent length of their separation is not explicitly stated, but it seems that many weeks, and perhaps months, had passed when one evening Hyung-Chul chances upon Sun-Mi in the elevator lobby, on her way to the radio studio. Sun-Mi doesn’t notice him, as she is engrossed in reading a poetry book in preparation for her evening radio program.

Ep.16 – Sun-Mi reading as Hyung-Chul discreetly follows.

Later, during the live broadcast of “Musical Postcards”, Hyung-Chul watches from the studio observation window as Sun-Mi reads a poignant selection from an unidentified book about two lovers experiencing a lonely Spring apart.

This is the first of two lengthy radio monologs by Sun-Mi. (The second one is in Episode 17 on the day she faints.) Since she knows Hyung-Chul regularly watched her TV broadcasts in the past, she probably believes he listens to her radio program, too, and uses this medium as an indirect means of communication to him.

Burying My Face in Tears (눈물에 얼굴을 묻는다). Written by Won Tae Yeon (원태연)

The book was published in February 2000, just a few months before All About Eve began broadcast.

The book included a special -CD with recitations of ten of the poems.

In 2001, Jang Nara released her debut album. The title track “Burying My Face In Tears” is a medium tempo R&B song that combines a Korean style melody with Spanish sounds.

When I bury my face with tears

When you throw away the day

I will swallow my tears too

From when (Think back to the past how we used to be)

I am prepared to beg

I will know in advance

(I look back and I can't forget a single moment, uh!)

Do it for me

Truly I need you, but when I called you weren't there

There are no tears, but the day I gave up I cried

**The memories which break in this starlit day

    throw away your name

It can't be erased, I will erase myself

I don't know (Think back to the past how we used to be)

The reason I urgently gave up

Love in advance

(I look back and I can't forget a single moment, uh!)

Do it for

I will endeavor everyday to try to change things

It wasn't the truth that you could just throw me away without caring

The lingering spreads as cold as ice

The day you left me I cried

Sun-Mi reads about the pain and heartache of a long separation…

as Hyung-Chul, watching from afar, shows that he knows the feeling.
