Sun-Mi trudges, sleepy-eyed, into the kitchen. She is dressed in her pajamas and house slippers.
She sees her aunt is busy at the cook top.
Sun-Mi.............. (yawning) Good morning, Auntie.
Gwi-Sun looks up and smiles warmly...
Gwi-Sun............ Finally! I was about to call you down. Breakfast is ready, and there's fresh coffee.
Sun-Mi goes over to the coffee maker and fills her cup, then sits down at the table.
Gwi-Sun............ You came back very late.
Sun-Mi.............. Yes.
Gwi-Sun............ How was your day, yesterday?
Sun-Mi.............. The weather was nice. We had a good time.
Gwi-Sun............ Oh? Anything special?
Sun-Mi.............. After we left Dover, Senior stopped to do some stargazing. That's why we got back so late.
Gwi-Sun looks over at her, surprised...
Gwi-Sun............ Stargazing? Where?
Sun-Mi.............. Some place off the main road, by the cliffs, where it was dark enough to see the stars...
Gwi-Sun brings two plates over to the table and sits down across from Sun-Mi.
Sun-Mi.............. We watched the Pleiades meteor shower. Senior does it every year.
Gwi-Sun............ Why?
Sun-Mi.............. It's what his mother did for his birthday, when he was a child. Today is Senior's birthday.
Gwi-Sun............ Is it really?
Sun-Mi.............. He didn't say a word before we were there...
She smiles ...
Sun-Mi.............. So I used the fairy cakes I bought for you as a birthday cake to celebrate.
Gwi-Sun............ And then?
Sun-Mi.............. We counted falling stars... until I fell asleep, that is. I didn't wake up until we got back here...
She looks off thoughtfully.
Sun-Mi.............. I hope I didn't disappoint him.
Gwi-Sun............ I don't think so. Hyung-Chul stopped by early this morning, and we had a chat.
Sun-Mi.............. He came here? Why?
Gwi-Sun............ You must have been really tired, because you left your bag in the car, so he delivered it.
Sun-Mi.............. (petulantly) Auntie! Why didn't you wake me, so I could thank him?
Gwi-Sun............ He said there was no need, to let you rest. He'll see you tomorrow. And one other thing...
She smiles at Sun-Mi...
Gwi-Sun............ Hyung-Chul told me how much he appreciated your company, he's really glad he met you here.
Sun-Mi.............. (surprised) Senior said that?
Gwi-Sun............ Frankly, from how he talked, I think he likes you ... as more than friends.
Sun-Mi stares back at her aunt...

Young-Mi is previewing videos at her MBS intern's job.

Hyung-Chul and John bring their glasses together in a toast...
John................. Happy birthday!
Hyung-Chul....... Thanks.
John................. How was the trip yesterday with Sun-Mi?
Hyung-Chul....... We had a good time together... thanks for NOT coming.
John................. That sounds like it had possibilities... making any headway?
Hyung-Chul....... For now, it's just friends.
John................. For now?
Hyung-Chul....... Until I graduate, and go back to Seoul.
John................. You're that serious?
Hyung-Chul....... (laughs) What can I say? I'm surprised, too!
SCENE: Seoul, inside a house, afternoon

Young-Mi is tutoring Woo-Jin's former student at a table, listening to a tape.
The student keeps sneaking glances at Young-Mi�s cleavage down her v-neck sweater.
Young-Mi stops the tape, unaware she is the focus of the boy's attention...
Young-Mi.......... When you�re having a verbal test check your vocabulary right away...
The boy is still not paying attention, his eyes locked on her breasts.
Young-Mi.......... It�s hard to figure things out at the end.
Young-Mi notices where the boy is looking, glances down at herself and back at the boy.
Then she whacks him on the head with her pencil.
Boy.................. Oww!
The boy puts his hand to the sore spot on his head.
Boy.................. Why�d you do that?
Young-Mi.......... Why? Look at the book, nowhere else.
The boy reacts with a bored expression.
Young-Mi.......... Your parents will send you to study in Germany. How can you be like this?
Boy.................. I�m good at athletics.
Young-Mi.......... That�s why you should study more.
Boy.................. Ah. I have a question...
He looks at her curiously...
Boy.................. What�s the story between you and Woo-Jin who visited last time? Is he your boyfriend?
Young-Mi ignores the question.
Boy.................. (persisting) Have you kissed?
Young-Mi glares at the boy with disgust.
Young-Mi.......... I hate guys like you the most.
The smile fades from boy�s face.
Young-Mi.......... You have no skills and since you have good parents, you don�t know how scary the real world is.
....................... You fools think money buys everything. Really ticks me off.
SPLIT SCENES: London, Sun-Mi's aunt's house, afternoon / Seoul, cho-Jeh's home, night
Sun-Mi is stretched out on the living room couch, talking on the phone with her friend Cho-Jeh.
Sun-Mi.............. On the way back, we stopped for stargazing. Senior knew a good place, dark enough to see the sky.
Cho-Jeh............ (excitedly) Stargazing?! So... did anything happen?
Sun-Mi.............. Like what?
Cho-Jeh rolls her eyes...
Cho-Jeh............ Like what couples do when they park in a dark, secluded place... make out!
Sun-Mi.............. What?! Of course not! ... Even if he'd tried anything, I'm not that kind of person!
Cho-Jeh............ I don't understand you... He's Mr. Perfect. Aren't you the least interested?
Sun-Mi.............. I want a man's respect first.
Cho-Jeh............ Right... While you work for his respect, another woman will work on snatching him away.
Sun-Mi.............. It doesn't matter, anyway. He already has a girlfriend, in Seoul.
Cho-Jeh............ How do you know that?
Sun-Mi.............. She left a message on Senior's answering machine.
Cho-Jeh............ All the more reason to make your move now, while he's away from her, and interested in you.
Sun-Mi.............. Cho-Jeh, for the last time! He's NOT interested, and we're NOT dating!
Cho-Jeh............ Why be so adamant denying it, if it's not true? Be honest with yourself, Sun-Mi...
Sun-Mi.............. That's enough! I'm hanging up... Bye!
After Sun-Mi puts the handset down, she watches the phone, puzzling...
Sun-Mi.............. (to herself) Could she be right? ... No way!
She recalls what her aunt told her...
Gwi-Sung.......... (voiceover) You seem to have made a deep impression on him. Frankly, I think he likes you!
Sun-Mi.............. (sighs deeply) Is it really possible?
SCENE: Seoul, Paradise Club, night
Young-Mi is working a private room for several businessmen, including a regular from before...
Man................. Yeah, bottoms up!
SCENE: London, Outside on Sun-Mi's aunt's patio, afternoon
Gwi-Sun is lounging on the patio in the sun, reading a magazine. A glass of lemonade is on the table beside her.
[O.S. sound of high heels tapping on the patio blocks]
Sun-Mi.............. Auntie!
Gwi-Sun looks up and smiles...
Sun-Mi is wearing a scoop neck, short sleeved, red knit top, black dress slacks, and her beige and ivory, cap-toe Chanel high heels.
Her white cardigan is slung over her shoulders, and she is carrying her ivory Chanel backpack in one hand.
Gwi-Sun............ Where are you going, all dressed up?
Sun-Mi.............. (enthusiastically) A party. We're making dinner at Senior's, with a real birthday cake this time!
Gwi-Sun............ Oh? Who's cooking?
Sun-Mi.............. I said I'd make his favorite foods for a birthday treat.
Gwi-Sun nods, happy to hear about this latest development in their relationship.
Gwi-Sun............ But, isn't it early for dinner?
Sun-Mi.............. We're grocery shopping first, at Borough Market. He's coming to pick me up soon...
She drops her backpack on the table, and sits down on the adjacent patio chair.
Sun-Mi.............. Auntie, can I ask you something? This is just a hypothetical question, okay?
Gwi-Sun............ Of course. Go on.
Sun-Mi.............. A person likes someone a lot, but then meets someone else and likes that person, too.
Gwi-Sun............ Likes them both the same?
Sun-Mi.............. The person isn't sure -- the head and the heart don't exactly agree.
Gwi-Sun............ (nods) Okay, I get it. So what is the question?
Sun-Mi.............. Is that person doing something wrong? Like cheating on one with the other?
Gwi-Sun............ Hmmm... I suppose it depends on the relationships. How...
[O.S. sound of a car's horn] Beep ... beep ...
Sun-Mi.............. That's Senior! I've gotta run.
Gwi-Sun............ What about your question?
Sun-Mi.............. (smiles) We'll talk again, Auntie...
She grabs her backpack from the table and slings the strap over her shoulder.
Gwi-Sun............ Have a good time. Greet Hyung-Chul for me.
Sun-Mi.............. (cheerily) Thanks... I will... Bye!
Sun-Mi goes to the side of the house, looks back and waves to her aunt.
Gwi-Sun waves back, until Sun-Mi is out of sight.
Gwi-Sun............ (chuckles to herself) Jin Sun-Mi, you cutie! So you do like him, too, after all...
SCENE: Seoul, Paradise Club, night
Young-Mi runs into the Ladies' Washroom to vomit into the sink.
In-Soo follows her into the restroom.
She sees his reflection in the mirror.
In-Soo.............. Hey, don�t drink everything they give you.
Young-Mi fixes her makeup with a pad.
In-Soo.............. Are you OK?
Young-Mi.......... I was careless. I can�t handle what I used to.
In-Soo.............. Do you have to go to college? The way I see it ...
Young-Mi.......... I�m the daughter of an alcoholic. This isn�t enough to make me pass out.
She turns to face him...
Young-Mi.......... I�m not going to be doing this for long. I won�t make you lose any money, so don�t worry about me.
Young-Mi starts to leave.
In-Soo.............. I�m just worried about you.
She ignores him and leaves the washroom.
In-Soo.............. Hey! Hey! Young-Mi...
SCENE: Seoul, Woo-Jin's photo studio, night
Woo-Jin is printing pictures of Young-Mi in the darkroom.
SCENE: Seoul, Paradise Club, night
Back in the private room. Young-Mi is entertaining the customers...
Young-Mi.......... (singing) I want to see you even just once. I want to meet you...
Young-Mi ......... (singing) My love for you is not enough. I want to know why you left me ...
SCENE: London, Borough Market, afternoon
Sun-Mi and Hyung-Chul go shopping at Borough Market, in Southwark near London Bridge.
It is one of the oldest markets in London, dating back to 1014.
The market is packed with throngs of shoppers.
Dozens of stalls are filled with gourmet foods, cheeses, and baked goods.
Enticed by the delicious aromas, they snack a variety of tasty treats for their lunch, including goat kofta kabobs.
Satisfied for the moment, Hyung-Chul and Sun-Mi start shopping for their dinner in earnest.
The type and selection of fresh produce is enormous.
They browse a fish monger's wares...
Sun-Mi.............. What kind of fish do you like, Senior?
Hyung-Chul....... Er... Anything is all right.
Sun-Mi.............. It's your birthday. I don't want to cook just anything.
Sun-Mi.............. (excitedly) How about this one? It's so delicious!
He is amused at her enthusiasm over what is just another fish to him.
Hyung-Chul....... Sure.
She turns to the fish monger and points to the fish...
Sun-Mi.............. I'd like two of those, please, Mister.
The fish monger looks at her, puzzled...
Fish Monger...... (in English) Eh? Wot's that, Miss?
Sun-Mi sees Hyung-Chul's amused grin, and realizes she'd spoken in Korean without thinking.
Smiling, she holds up two fingers, and points again.
Sun-Mi.............. (in heavily accented English) Two fish... Please.
Fish Monger...... (in English) That's six quid.
SCENE: Seoul, in a taxi, night
After leaving the club, Young-Mi is going home in a taxi, crying...
SCENE: London,Thames River, afternoon
Shopping done, they drive to Hyung-Chul's apartment.
Sun-Mi.............. (voice over) After all that shopping, I'm famished!
Hyung-Chul....... (voiceover) I'm looking forward to eating something tasty...
[Happy laughter]
SCENE: Seoul, Woo-Jin's photo studio, night
Woo-Jin is in his studio checking slides when the phone rings...
He answers the call. It is his mother...
Woo-Jin............ I have work to finish by tomorrow ... Don�t worry ... Yes
He hangs up.
SCENE: Seoul, outside Young-Mi's apartment building, night
Young-Mi�s taxi pulls up outside her building.
Alighting from the taxi, she staggers into the building.
She stumbles against the stair railing inside, then looks downstairs to Woo-Jin's studio.
SCENE: London, Outside Hyung-Chul's apartment, afternoon
Hyung-Chul's car turns into the car park of his apartment building and stops by the stairway.
He pops the boot lid and he and Sun-Mi alight from the car.
She grabs her backpack from the back seat as he goes to the boot and takes out some grocery bags.
SCENE: Seoul, Woo-Jin's photo studio, night
Woo-Jin sees Young-Mi stagger into the studio.
Woo-Jin............ Young-Mi. What is it? What�s wrong with you?
He hurries over to Young-Mi to hold her.
She looks into Woo-Jin�s eyes...
Young-Mi.......... Oppa, look at me. This is who I am.
Woo-Jin............ Young-Mi.
They stand silently for a few seconds.
Young-Mi.......... Right now, I ... Right now ...
Jin-Suk comes into the studio.
Jin-Suk............. I told you not to pull an all-nighter.
Woo-Jin............ Mom.
Jin-Suk looks at Woo-Jin, wondering what woman he is with.
Young-Mi turns around to face his mother.... waiting for the impending explosion...
SCENE: Inside Hyung-Chul's apartment, afternoon
Sun-Mi enters the apartment's small foyer, carrying a pair of grocery bags in one hand by the handles.
Hyung-Chul follows in behind her with more grocery bags in his hands.
To the right are doors to the two bedrooms. On the left, a double door leads to the reception room and kitchen.
Hyung-Chul....... Shall we take a break first, before cooking?
Sun-Mi.............. It's your birthday, Senior. You rest... I'll go to the kitchen and get right to work.
She gives him her prettiest smile...
Sun-Mi.............. I'll cook up something very tasty for you!
He goes ahead of her into the reception room, then stops abruptly.
Sun-Mi, wondering what he is seeing, comes up behind Hyung-Chul to look, too...
In the reception room, standing by the French doors to the balcony, is a woman.
Hyung-Chul stares at his unexpected visitor, dumbfounded.
Astonished, Sun-Mi gapes, too...
Her eyes trace the woman's ample S-line, then follow mile-long legs down from a micro-mini skirt to skyscraper stilettos.
Hyung-Chul....... Su-Jin? How...?
Su-Jin............... Surprise!
He sets the grocery bags on the floor and enters the room, walking over to her.
Hyung-Chul....... (puzzled) What are you doing here?
Su-Jin............... (enthusiastically) It's your birthday! ... I came to deliver your present, in person!
Hyung-Chul....... A present?
Su-Jin takes a step closer to Hyung-Chul and throws her arms around his neck, embracing him tightly.
Su-Jin............... Yes... Me!
Then she kisses him ardently on the lips, as Sun-Mi watches on, stunned...
