There he watches the CCTV tape that shows Young-Mi tampering with Joo-Hee's car.

Young-Mi sees a CCTV camera monitoring where she had tampered with Joo-Hee's car.
Immediately, she realizes the implications if anyone looks at the tape.

Young-Mi questions a security system operator about the tape.
Operator........... Kim Woo-Jin took it.

Young-Mi searches for the CCTV tape cassette when Woo-Jin arrives.
Woo-Jin............ Were you looking for this?
Young-Mi tries to grab for the tape, but Woo-Jin grasps her arm first.
Woo-Jin and Young-Mi are leaving in his car, when Hyung-Chul comes out and sees them together.
Young-Mi.......... (V.O.) Save me, Woo-Jin. I made a mistake. Forgive me.
Sun-Mi is waiting for Woo-Jin at the OKmart, when Hyung-Chul arrives.
Angry, without warning, he seizes Sun-Mi's wrist, forcefully pulls her along behind him.
Sun-Mi.............. (V.O.) Senior?!

SCENE: Inside Hyung-Chul's car
Sun-Mi and Hyung-Chul argue in his car as he drives ...
Sun-Mi.............. Stop! Stop the car right now!
She starts to take off her seatbelt.
He reaches over and stops her.
Sun-Mi.............. Senior!
Hyung-Chul....... Call home and tell them you're not coming tonight.
Sun-Mi glares at Hyung-Chul, but doesn't say another word.
SCENE: Inside Woo-Jin's car, night
Woo-Jin is intent on driving in the heavy rain.
Young-Mi watches him, worried about what he plans to do with the security tape.
Young-Mi.......... Let's go home. We'll have a nice dinner, and then spend the night together, okay?
Woo-Jin............ What happened to -- 'I'm sick of you. I want you and your camera to get lost for good.'
Young-Mi.......... You know I didn't mean those words ... I was just carried away by my worry and ambitions.
He doesn't respond, or look towards her.
Young-Mi.......... Woo-Jin, you're scaring me. Won't you look at me, please?
Woo-Jin............ Why? At one time I thought I knew you, but now I don't recognize you at all.
SCENE: Inside Hyung-Chul's car, night
Sun-Mi sits stone-faced, staring out the side window into the pouring rain.
Hyung-Chul, angry over Woo-Jin's betrayal of Sun-Mi while she faithfully waited in the rain, drives intently ...
Sun-Mi.............. Where are you taking me?
Hyung-Chul....... Someplace to dry out, where we can talk.
Sun-Mi.............. About what?
Hyung-Chul....... Making the biggest mistake of your life, if you marry Kim Woo-Jin!
Sun-Mi.............. Before, you congratulated me. And now this? Why?
Hyung-Chul....... There's something you need to know first.
Sun-Mi.............. My mind is made up. Nothing you say can change that ... Please, take me back.
Hyung-Chul....... That was idiotic, standing out all night in the cold and rain. Now you want to go back?
Her mouth tightens at his demanding, dismissive attitude ...
Sun-Mi.............. Yes! ... Since I'm an idiot, why do you care?
Hyung-Chul....... Sun-Mi ...
Sun-Mi.............. I've nothing more to say! So take me back.

Young-Mi leans on Woo-Jin's shoulder as she makes another appeal ...
Young-Mi.......... Please, can't we start over? Go back to like we were before?
Woo-Jin............ You want to go back to where things started?
Young-Mi.......... We can make everything all right ... better than before ...
SCENE: Inside Hyung-Chul's villa
Hyung-Chul drags Sun-Mi against her will into his apartment.
Sun-Mi.............. Senior, what are you doing?
Hyung-Chul releases her hand.
Sun-Mi.............. (loudly) What do you expect by this? I was waiting for Woo-Jin. Don't you know?
He looks away without answering, irritated at her naivety.
Sun-Mi.............. I'll go now.
She turns to leave.
Hyung-Chul....... (quietly) He won't be there.
Angry at his presumption, Sun-Mi stops and turns back to face Hyung-Chul.
Sun-Mi.............. What? Yes, he will. He'll be there. He would've called if he can't come. He'll come for sure.
Hyung-Chul....... The Woo-Jin you trust so much won't come.
She glares stubbornly.
Sun-Mi.............. He will.
Hyung-Chul....... Do you know why he can't make it?
She doesn't answer ... but suspects what Hyung-Chul is about to say ...
Hyung-Chul....... He's with Young-Mi.
Woo-Jin drives into a hotel parking garage.
SCENE: In the hotel parking garage, night
Woo-Jin gets out of the car and circles around to open the passenger side door for Young-Mi.
Young-Mi.......... Why come here?
He grabs her wrist and pulls her out of the car.
Woo-Jin............ Didn't you say you wanted to start over, at the beginning?
Young-Mi.......... But ...
He starts off, dragging her along.
Woo-Jin............ This is where it all started ... don't you remember?

Young-Mi.... Promise me, you have to promise...
She focuses her eyes on him.
Young-Mi.... No matter who I am. No matter how bad a person I am. You'll love me, right? You won't leave me, right??
Woo-Jin...... I won't leave you. We're never going to be separated.
Young-Mi.... Yes, this is a beginning. It really is...

Woo-Jin............ Now that I know how bad you really are, don't you want to know if I still love you, or not?
Woo-Jin walks down the hotel corridor, Young-Mi trailing several steps behind him.
She comes to Woo-Jin, looking at him anxiously.
Young-Mi.......... Oppa, Why don't we just go home?
Woo-Jin doesn't look at her.
Woo-Jin............ I don't want to go to the place you call home.
Woo-Jin enters the hotel room, with Young-Mi behind him.
He walks over to the bed, while she stands by the door for a moment.
Then Young-Mi quickly comes over to Woo-Jin and tries to kiss him, but he refuses her advances.
Trembling, she collapses onto the floor at Woo-Jin's feet, crying ...
Young-Mi.......... (loudly) What do you want? What do you want from me then?
Woo-Jin ignores her.
Young-Mi.......... I hated Yoo Joo-Hee! I wanted to solidify the ground that I'm stepping on! ... It's not that wrong.
Young-Mi moves over to kneel in front of Woo-Jin and beg.
Young-Mi.......... Oppa ... Oppa, please give me the tape.
Tears roll down her cheeks.
Young-Mi.......... I made a mistake. I didn't mean it.
Woo-Jin watches her impassively.
Young-Mi.......... Oppa, I truly loved you. I left your side because of my greed. You know that ...
....................... You know how I lived, and how hungry I was and how much I starved ...
....................... I left you for success. You know I had nothing ... I was sad for myself too. I really loved you.
She cries as she holds onto Woo-Jin's legs.
Young-Mi.......... Oppa, but please, please trash the tape for old time's sake.
She looks pleadingly up at Woo-Jin.
Woo-Jin............ (quietly) Old time's sake? That's an insult to me. You still don't understand?
Young-Mi's tears are still flowing.
Young-Mi.......... Oppa, I'm not that evil.
Woo-Jin............ So you want the tape back?
Young-Mi looks down as Woo-Jin sits on the bed.
Woo-Jin............ Don't worry. I won't hand the tape to the police. But if you do such a thing one more time ...
Young-Mi looks up at Woo-Jin.
Woo-Jin............ Then I don't know what I'm going to do.
Young-Mi starts to cry again.
Woo-Jin............ Just keep that in mind and I'll keep watching you.
Woo-Jin leaves the room. Young-Mi remains on the floor, trembling.
He hears her shrieks mixed with loud sobs as he walks away.
SCENE: Inside Hyung-Chul's villa, night
Hyung-Chul dries Sun-Mi's hair with a towel.
She sits still, expressing her displeasure by avoiding looking at him.
He stops drying her hair to speak ...
Hyung-Chul....... I know Woo-Jin was the most important person to your life. I knew it from the start.
She looks up at him to reply.
Sun-Mi.............. Senior ...
Hyung-Chul....... But when I saw him with Young-Mi in the rain, and you were still waiting in that rain ...
....................... I asked myself what I meant to you.
He looks down at the floor.
Hyung-Chul....... I realized that I was nothing ... If you love somebody you give everything or nothing.
Sun-Mi.............. No, you're wrong ... I waited for him not because I love him, but because I trust him.
....................... I know he will be there.
He looks up again, at Sun-Mi.
Hyung-Chul....... Does he trust you too? Does he treasure you as much as you cherish him?
Sun-Mi doesn't respond, not wanting to even think about it.
Hyung-Chul stands up, frustrated by her unbending loyalty to Woo-Jin.
Hyung-Chul....... Ok, I'll drive you there ... He might be waiting for you ...
Sun-Mi does not respond.
Hyung-Chul....... If he is ... maybe that's better ... I might be able to let go of you.
He holds out his hand to help Sun-Mi stand.
Hyung-Chul....... Get up, I'll give you a ride.
Rather than take his hand, she wavers, her heart wrestling with her mind whether to stay, or go.
Sun-Mi.............. Senior ...
He puts his hand down.
Sun-Mi.............. You know. The thing is ...
Hyung-Chul waits for Sun-Mi to finish, but she stiffens her resolve, and instead stands up to leave.
SCENE: Inside Hyung-Chul's car, night
The pouring rain has let up to a light drizzle as Hyung-Chul drives Sun-Mi back to the OKmart.
He concentrates on the traffic, she keeps her thoughts to herself.
Hyung-Chul....... There is something more I want to say to you.
Sun-Mi doesn't respond, even to look at him.
Hyung-Chul....... When I saw you in your wedding dress, I decided that I should forget you.
She turns to look at him.
Hyung-Chul....... But then tonight, I realized my feelings hadn't changed, that I still hoped you'll come back to me.
Sun-Mi.............. Senior ...
Hyung-Chul....... But now, if Woo-Jin is there, and you go with him ... if I see he cares for you as much as I do ...
He smiles wryly.
Hyung-Chul....... It's like on that night, when I watched you on the bridge at Yuldong Lake ...

Sun-Mi........ You have to be happy. ... Be happy, Woo-Jin. You really have to be happy ...

Hyung-Chul stops his car near the OKmart where he picked Sun-Mi up.
Woo-Jin is not there, as Hyung-Chul had predicted, contrary to her assertions.
Sun-Mi looks over at him, then away -- wondering what she should do now, seeing that she was wrong.
Then Hyung-Chul looks over at Sun-Mi -- wondering what he should say now, being right.
Sun-Mi again turns toward Hyung-Chul, ready to concede and tell him they should leave.
Then, amazingly, she sees Woo-Jin running toward the OKmart with an umbrella.
Hyung-Chul sees her expression change, and realizes Sun-Mi is looking past him.
He turns and also sees Woo-Jin.
Woo-Jin stops running and starts looking around for Sun-Mi.
Hyung-Chul looks back at Sun-Mi, stunned by the unexpected turn of events ... she was right after all.
After a quick nod to Hyung-Chul, Sun-Mi takes off her seatbelt, and alights from the car ...
SCENE: Outside the OK mart, night
Not seeing Sun-Mi, Woo-Jin is about to leave.
Sun-Mi.............. Oppa!
Turning toward Sun-Mi, he greets her happily, but with pangs of guilt ...
Woo-Jin............ Sun-Mi, I'm sorry, I'm late.
Sun-Mi looks back over her shoulder at Hyung-Chul's car, and sees that he is watching them.
Realizing that he is taking a mental picture of the scene with his eyes, she turns away again.
Noticing Sun-Mi's uneasy behavior, Woo-Jin is also uncomfortable with the situation.
Satisfied that Sun-Mi's decision is final, Hyung-Chul nods to the couple, and drives off.

Unhappily, Hyung-Chul resigns himself to the situation as he drives away ...
SCENE: Outside the OKmart, night
After Hyung-Chul leaves, Woo-Jin and Sun-Mi talk ...
Woo-Jin............ Did you eat?
Sun-Mi.............. You were taking me out for dinner, remember?
Woo-Jin............ Want to grab a bite, then?
She shakes her head.
Sun-Mi.............. I don't have any appetite now.
He can see she is not in a good mood ...
Woo-Jin............ I'll drive you home, then.
Sun-Mi.............. Let's go to your place instead. We have some things to talk about, and Daddy's at home.
Woo-Jin............ (warily) Er ... what's to talk about?
Sun-Mi.............. For one, why you were late!
Woo-Jin............ (defensively) Isn't it enough that I apologized already?
Sun-Mi is incredulous. She is soaking wet from waiting for him, and he doesn't want to talk about why?
Sun-Mi.............. (irritated) I didn't ask for an apology, but an explanation! Don't I at least deserve that much?
Reacting defensively to her argumentative tone, he addresses Sun-Mi forcefully.
Woo-Jin............ Look, if you're upset with me, just say so!
She is upset -- but not for the reason he thinks -- and doesn't want to get into another argument tonight.
Sun-Mi.............. Woo-Jin, what's got into you?
He looks away, regretting his outburst.
Woo-Jin............ Nothing ... I admit it's my fault, what more do you want?
Sun-Mi.............. Forget it. It's nobody's fault ... Let's go on.
Sheepishly, he nods, and they start walking off together under the umbrella ...
SPLIT SCENES: Inside Hyung-Chul's car
Hyung-Chul is talking on his car mobile as he drives ...
Hyung-Chul....... Where are you?
Sun-Dal............ (V.O.) Waiting to take Joo-Hee home. Why?
Hyung-Chul....... I thought about getting together with my old drinking buddy.
Sun-Dal............ Sorry. Tonight I'll take a rain check.
Hearing this, Hyung-Chul smiles.
Hyung-Chul....... Have a good time. We'll catch up another night.
Sun-Mi sits on Woo-Jin's bed as Jin-Suk dries her hair with a towel.
She is wearing one of Woo-Jin's short sleeved knit polo shirts that hangs loosely over her small frame.
Jin-Suk............. Hey, you did what? Filming some "Singing in the Rain" stuff?
Sun-Mi.............. Yes, we played in the rain.
She laughs.
Jin-Suk smiles at Sun-Mi.
Jin-Suk............. What if you catch a cold?
Sun-Mi.............. (nods) I'm OK.
Jin-Suk strokes Sun-Mi's hair with her hand.
Woo-Jin comes into the room carrying a tray with two cups of coffee.
Woo-Jin............ Are you dry now?
Sun-Mi.............. Yes.
Woo-Jin............ Mom?
Jin-Suk............. Yes?
Woo-Jin............ Could we have a minute here?
Jin-Suk looks at them happily.
Jin-Suk............. Really? OK, have a good talk.
Jin-Suk smiles and leaves the room.
Sun-Mi sips from her cup.
Sun-Mi.............. You went out with Young-Mi?
Woo-Jin puts his cup down, embarrassed.
Woo-Jin............ How did you know that?
Sun-Mi.............. Since you didn't call later, I knew something happened.
Woo-Jin............ That was rude of me ... Did you wait there the entire time? How did you meet Director Yoon?
Sun-Mi looks away evasively, not wanting to tell the whole story ...
Sun-Mi.............. We just bumped into each other. We talked about our morning show.
Sensing she is not being forthright, Woo-Jin looks away uneasily
Then they both speak up at the same time, wanting to clear the air ...
Woo-Jin............ Sun-Mi ...
Sun-Mi.............. Oppa ...
They smile and laugh.
Woo-Jin............ I shouldn't have shown this side of me.
Sun-Mi listens empathetically, recalling the time she'd expressed identical regrets to Hyung-Chul ...
Woo-Jin............ I don't know why I took my anger at Young-Mi out on you.
....................... Maybe it's because I trust you and I like you. That's why I'm so bad.
Sun-Mi.............. Why are you saying this?
Woo-Jin............ (quietly) I don't want you to lose your love, just because of me ...
Sun-Mi looks away with a wan smile.
Woo-Jin............ I know because I look out for you like a younger sister. I know you love him.
....................... You know, if you're with me that's just humiliating me. Go back to Director Yoon.
Sun-Mi.............. What about you?
Woo-Jin............ Me? I may not be able to forgive her or hate her. It'll be hard, huh?

As Hyung-Chul enters his club, he is greeted by the dining room Captain.
Captain............. Good evening, Director.
Hyung-Chul....... I'd like a drink.
Captain............. Your usual?
Hyung-Chul....... Yes.
The Captain seats Hyung-Chul, and a waiter brings him a bottle of bourbon and pours him a full glass.
Waiter.............. Enjoy.
Hyung-Chul....... Thank you.
Sipping bourbon, he ponders the unexpected twists of fortune that night ...
Hyung-Chul....... (V.O.) It began with a chance encounter ...

Setting down the glass, he refills it from the bottle.
He is about to drink again, when he hears a familiar melody on the piano.
Curious, he gets up to see who is playing ... and discovers it is Su-Jin.
As he comes nearer, Su-Jin sees him and stops playing.
Hyung-Chul walks up to the piano and leans over it, looking down at her.
Hyung-Chul....... That brings back old memories.
She smiles.
Su-Jin............... Yes, it does. You played that song for me once, when we were at Cambridge.
Hyung-Chul....... I'm surprised you can still remember it, after so many years.
Su-Jin............... Of course. It was on our 'first official date' ...
