HYUNG-CHUL'S OFFICE, MBS HQ AND STUDIOS, YEOUIDO ...

 

"Just sign here. We'll send your last paycheck in a few weeks," Hyung-Chul wraps up his exit interview with Young-Mi.

 

Across the desk, Young-Mi requests: "Please mail it to Ms. Song's address. I'll have left my apartment by then."

 

"You're moving in with Ms. Song?"

 

"Only for a few days," she clarifies her situation. "I'm going back to the orphanage, to join the convent."

 

Hyung-Chul is puzzled. "But last night I thought you'd decided to stay on in Seoul."

 

"I had a sudden calling to change my plans," she explains. "Sometimes God moves in mysterious ways and our heart tells us to follow."

 

"You're becoming a nun?" he guesses.

 

"I believe God saved my life for a reason," she says. "I want to devote my life to serving God and others."

 

Hyung-Chul is duly impressed. "I hope you find happiness this way, Miss Huh Young-Mi..."

 

 

"Thank you, Director Yoon, you've been so helpful," Young-Mi replies gratefully.

 

"I'll see you out," he offers as he gets up from his chair. "If you ever need anything, don't hesitate," he tells her. "I'd be happy to..."

 

 

The office door flies open, interrupting him, as Park So-Won bursts in.

 

Outside Miss Lee, Hyung-Chul's secretary, calls after her: "Wait... Miss Park!"

 

So-Won ignores Miss Lee, greeting Hyung-Chul effusively: "Darling! I've missed you terribly!"

 

She quickly closes the distance and embraces Hyung-Chul tightly around the neck.

 

Taken aback, Hyung-Chul tells her, "Hey. Take it easy!" as he firmly pries So-Won's arms off. "I thought our appointment was this afternoon," he reminds her, trying not to appear irritable at the unexpected interruption in  his day.

 

"The plans changed," she informs him.

 

"Oh? Perhaps you could inform me first?" he asks a bit sarcastically.

 

"We're joining Uncle and your father for lunch, to discuss your proposal," she tells him excitedly.

 

Hyung-Chul glances at Young-Mi, and replies firmly, "Let's talk about that later."

 

Then So-Won faces Young-Mi and addresses her: "And you are..."?

 

Hyung-Chul makes the introductions. "Miss Huh Young-Mi. ... Miss Park So-Won."

 

The two women -- one dressed in a modest beige skirt and white sweater; the other a walking designer showcase with her siren red sleeveless mini, metallic gold bag, and gold stiletto pumps -- regard each other silently, as if sizing up an adversary.

 

Young-Mi speaks first, smiling warmly, "Pleased to meet you, Miss Park."

 

"Likewise," So-Won responds coolly.

 

"Give me a moment," Hyung-Chul tells So-Won, thinking to send Young-Mi off as he had intended.

 

But Young-Mi turns to Hyung-Chul and bows politely. "I'll see myself out, Director Yoon... Goodbye."

 

As Young-Mi heads for the door, So-Won regards her suspiciously.

 

 

Young-Mi comes out and closes the door to Hyung-Chul's office. As she passes Miss Lee's desk, the intercom buzzes.

 

Miss Lee responds immediately: "Yes, Director?"

 

"Please call Announcer Jin Sun-Mi and reschedule our lunch to dinner," he orders. "Tell her I have a sudden business meeting."

 

Miss Lee dutifully takes note. "Yes, Director. Shall I have your car brought up?"

 

"That won't be necessary. My ride is already at the front door," he informs her.

 

Outside in the corridor, Young-Mi pauses to think for a moment, then takes out her cell phone and starts off for the elevators.
