"You can’t just wait for that ‘special moment’ to happen, you have to make it happen." -- Kim Sun-Dal

MBS HQ AND STUDIOS, YEOUIDO ...

"How was the honeymoon?" Hyung-Chul greets Sun-Dal as he comes through the revolving door at the MBS main lobby entrance.

"Fantastic!" Sun-Dal responds enthusiastically. "But what's that important, you need to call me in right off the plane?"

"Sorry it's such short notice, but this couldn't wait," Hyung-Chul apologizes as they walk toward the elevators. "I'm tied up in meetings for the next several days, and there's an important organizational development I need to make you aware of first."

"Director Kim up to his tricks again?"

"Not this time," Hyung-Chul replies vaguely. "This is something good..."

The elevator doors open, they step into the empty car, Hyung-Chul presses 10F, and the doors close.

"I heard you’re producing dramas now," Sun-Dal remarks. "Isn’t that Director Kim’s exclusive domain?"

"It was... before we cut a deal," Hyung-Chul explains. "In exchange, I agreed to give him control of the overseas news bureaus when Director Pyo retires next year."

"With the drop in drama ratings and audience share from the all new channels, it doesn't seem like a very good deal to me," Sun-Dal criticizes the decision. "And weren't you set on building up an international news organization to compete with CNN?

"A top News program might win accolades in the industry, but entertainment content drives the ratings and profits," Hyung-Chul counters, claiming: "The Hallyu Wave in East Asia is in its infancy, and the internet is about to explode. The one who can position MBS at the forefront of both movements, will be the Board’s choice to lead the company into the future."

Hyung-Chul’s strategy makes sense to Sun-Dal. "I take it Director Kim thinks he out-foxed you?"

"Exactly," Hyung-Chul chuckles. "Kim was so convinced he pulled a fast one, that he threw in Sun-Mi’s contract as a sweetener."

"I was wondering how you got her away from Art Club," Sun-Dal muses.

"Sun-Mi has potential to be one of the top entertainment announcers in Korea," Hyung-Chul predicts. "I wanted her back on our team."

Sun-Dal grins widely and jokes: "Aren't you the sly one! And I thought all you wanted was to marry her! Speaking of, any progress on that proposal?"

"Actually, every time the moment seemed right, something else interrupted," Hyung-Chul complains.

"You can’t just wait for that ‘special moment’ to happen, you have to make it happen," Sun-Dal counsels. "Like I did."

"You're the expert. Any ideas?"

Sun-Dal laughs. "I won’t play matchmaker. Figure it out for yourself."

The elevator opens on 10F and they head in the direction of the executive offices. As they approach their destination, Sun-Dal notices that, instead of Miss Lee, another woman is at the secretary’s desk.

He quietly asks his boss: "What happened to Miss Lee?"

"This is Miss Nam Ho-Jung," Hyung-Chul answers as she stands to greet them with a polite bow. "And this..." he points to the door, "is your new office."

Sun-Dal sees, on the door where Hyung-Chul’s name and title had been, a new placard declaring: Assistant Director of Planning and Programming Kim Sun-Dal.

Hyung-Chul extends his hand. "Congratulations! And when I make CEO, that 'Assistant' is coming off, too."

Peering inside, Sun-Dal sees that office has the same furniture as before, but the nameplate on the desk is changed out, and his belongings moved in from the Announcer’s Office.

"Miss Nam took initiative to move you. I think you’ll find her a most efficient secretary," Hyung-Chul extends the compliment.

"Assistant Director?" Miss Nam speaks up. "I’ve prepared your schedule for the week, and prioritized the documents requiring your attention on your desk. Is there anything else you’d like? Coffee for you and Director Yoon?"

"Er... Thank you Miss Nam," Sun-Dal replies. "It’s late and since I’m not officially back to work until tomorrow, you may leave now."

"Yes, Assistant Director," she answers with another bow, grabs her bag from under her desk, and walks away.

Sun-Dal waits until Miss Nam is out of earshot, then jokes, "This is going to take some getting used to. What a surprise!"

"I think you’ll also be pleasantly surprised when you see your next paycheck, too," Hyung-Chul predicts.

"This didn’t just happen without good reason," Sun-Dal deduces suspiciously. "What exactly went on while I was away?"

"Let’s sit down in your new office," Hyung-Chul suggests, "and I’ll fill you in..."
