"It’s one thing to be dumped, but it’s another when you don’t say everything you want to. Try telling Sun-Mi clearly how you really feel." -- Kim Sun-Dal

MBS HQ, YEOUIDO...

"Congratulations! Catwalk placed first in the Seoul ratings last night..." Sun-Dal announces the good news from the doorway.

"Have a seat," Hyung-Chul invites him into the office, then calls out to his secretary, "Miss Lee, coffee please!"

"I thought you'd order champagne for the occasion," Sun-Dal jokes, sitting down, "That surprise ending was a stroke of genius... it's the cliffhanger of the season! The internet chat rooms are buzzing like hives of agitated bees today... arguing whether fiction will follow reality, or not..."

"If only the final episode ratings are this good, " Hyung-Chul expresses his hope.

Sun-Dal leans closer and asks quietly, "Can you scoop me on the what happens?"

Hyung-Chul shrugs. "Actually, it's a mystery to me, too."

"But you're the producer!" Sun-Dal remarks with astonishment.

"We shot the key scenes both ways last week, so either is possible," Hyung-Chul explains. It all depends on what the writer decides."

"It's too bad about Park So-Won, though," Sun-Dal reflects. "I was skeptical at first, but she really surprised me with her ability to act."

"She did have a promising future," Hyung-Chul agrees. "Her effort this time was a possible Best Actress nomination, but that's unlikely now."

"What's going to happen to her?"

"She's agreed to enter a mental treatment institution," Hyung-Chul fills him in. "This way, she can get the help she needs."

"How was she was finally persuaded?"

"The possibility that she might never see her child again if she didn't. In the end, maternal instincts won out."

"And all this time the girl was literally right under your nose, and you never realized it," Sun-Dal says with amazement.

"I want to have a DNA test done as soon as possible," Hyung-Chul orders.

"You don't believe you're the father?"

"I don't have any reason to doubt So-Won, but I want to be sure. While I'm away, I'm counting on you to see this through."

"I got it," Sun-Dal acknowledges his critical task. "So with Director Kim being laid up, you're going to London to inaugurate the BBC joint venture next week?"

"I had no choice. Someone had to finish the negotiations and clean up the mess he left behind," Hyung-Chul grumbles.

"You don't seem very enthusiastic about it," Sun-Dal remarks.

"Director Kim will get the credit for any success, not me," Hyung-Chul explains his annoyance. "I'm only cutting my own throat."

"But at least I thought you'd jump at the opportunity, if only for an excuse to see Sun-Mi again," Sun-Dal brings up the subject cautiously.

"I'm not sure that's a good idea right now," Hyung-Chul disagrees. "Seeing how things turned out the last time."

He contemplates Sun-Mi's parting words ... 'next time we meet, act as it you don't know me personally, and I'll do the same ... we're two strangers whose paths crossed by accident' ...

Sun-Dal challenges his boss' pessimism. "You're going to give up, without making a fight for her?"

"There's not much point if she's made up her mind," Hyung-Chul notes glumly. "I'd just get a black eye."

"See her anyway," Sun-Dal suggests. "It’s one thing to be dumped, but it’s another when you give up and don’t say everything you want to. Try telling Sun-Mi clearly how you really feel."

"I know a person who gave that same advice to someone," Hyung-Chul replies, thinking back to how he'd encouraged Sun-Mi once.

"Oh? How did it turn out?"

"A bitter ending," Hyung-Chul answers dourly, "of a broken heart and unrequited love..."
