"I made a mistake by underestimating Jin Sun-Mi's abilities before, and that's something I'll always regret." -- Yoon Hyung-Chul
MBS YEOUIDO HQ, SEOUL ...
"Has anyone heard from Jin Sun-Mi yet?"
Chairman Yoon Jong-Ki scans the faces of the men who had just assembled in his office, hoping for a positive answer...
"No one answers at her parents' home, and her mobile is turned off," Ha Jin-Woo delivers unwelcome news.
"Son, do you have any idea?" Jong-Ki prompts Hyung-Chul.
"Jin Sun-Mi doesn't confide in me," he replies with a clipped tone. "Perhaps we should ask that question of Mr. Atwater."
All eyes turn to Min-Cho...
"I visited Sun-Mi last night, just to see how she was doing since her discharge from the hospital therapy center," he informs them, being careful to clarify the nature of his visit.
He glances across the table to observe Hyung-Chul's reaction, to see only an indifferent expression.
"Previously, she was reluctant to move forward with the nomination, but when I left, Sun-Mi said she'd see me here today," he adds optimistically.
But Director Yoo Seung-Hwan isn't so positive...
"So much for wishful thinking," he remarks critically. "How can Jin Sun-Mi skip out on such an important meeting?"
"I'm sure there must be a good reason," Jin-Soo defends her.
"This is just another example of her immaturity and irresponsibility!" Seung-Hwan contends. "I still don't understand your intention, Mr. Atwater, nominating Jin Sun-Mi as a condition for your cooperation. She has no experience, education, or known aptitude, and apparently also little interest, for the position."
Across the table, Min-Cho is ready to disagree...
"So what if she lacks experience and education?! We can put people around her to make up for that!" he argues heatedly. "It's what Jin Sun-Mi has that counts."
"And exactly what does she have that makes her so special?" Seung-Hwan counters disparagingly.
"Is it because Sun-Mi excelled beyond what your Joo-Hee achieved?" Min-Cho prods. "Is that why you're so set against her?"
"Gentlemen! ... Let's save our energy for fighting President Kim, instead of among ourselves," Jong-Ki interrupts, pressing for a truce.
"What fight?" Seung-Hwan scoffs. "Thanks to my son-in-law's treachery, Kim holds all the cards now!"
"Let's not give up, until the last vote is cast," Jin-Woo chimes in. "The game is not over until then."
Seung-Hwan challenges the possibility... "What's going to change between now, and then?"
"The nominees still have their final appeals to the Board," Jong-Ki reminds them. "Perhaps Sun-Mi can swing the last vote we need."
"Sun-Mi isn't going to move those old men the way she appeals to her program audiences," Seung-Hwan differs. "Being a woman is already one strike against her. And her flashy style isn't the type to impress them, either."
"I advised Sun-Mi of the hurdles she has to overcome, and insisted that she needs a conservative appearance to have any chance of consideration," Jin-Woo explains his preparations.
"Do you really think that she'll listen to reason?" Seung-Hwan contends. "Sun-Mi has always been a something of a loose cannon."
"I'll still put my money on Sun-Mi," Min-Cho states his confidence.
"I agree with Mr. Atwater," Hyung-Chul finally breaks his silence...
"I made a mistake by underestimating Jin Sun-Mi's abilities before, and that's something I'll always regret..."
